How to Dig Scrap in Dig and Survive
Daylight is an income shift: mine, leave bag slots, sell extras at the pawn shop, and stop before night.
Daylight in Dig and Survive is not sightseeing. It is the only honest way to mint Cash. You live in an isolated mining town, the dead rise at night, and the listing’s loop is blunt: defeat enemies, dig for scrap, uncover what is going on. This page is the scrap half of that loop. Night defense, distance bosses, and Day 50 all fail if the pawn shop never sees a bag.
If you have not finished onboarding, use Getting Started first. This guide assumes you can find the mine, the pawn shop, and the bag UI, and that you already claimed DigSocial (20 Lucky Tickets) from the codes hub. Tickets do not buy scrap. Cash still comes from junk you carry home.
The daylight income loop
Treat the sun as a shift clock.
- Leave town with empty slots reserved for scrap, plus room you will not fill: a weapon and at least one med kit belong in the bag before you start swinging.
- Dig. Hand digging works. The Permanent Drill gamepass is the legal long-run income tool if you already intended to pay; it is not a tutorial skip and it does not empty itself into the pawn shop.
- Watch the bag, not the hole. When slots tighten, walk. A full bag in a rich node is wasted time because you cannot pick up the next piece or the med kit you will want at dusk.
- Sell extras at the pawn shop. Keep what the night needs. Convert the rest to Cash.
- Restock kit, dump trash, and either run another short loop or stay in town if the light is already dropping.
That is the whole economy. Gems and Lucky Tickets sit beside it; they roll a class, they do not replace a pawn trip. Rank those unlock doors on the class acquisition tier list after you can complete one clean day without dying broke.
Bag space is a stat
New players treat the bag as a trash can. It is a budget. Every slot you fill with low-value scrap is a slot you cannot use for a med kit, a weapon, or Cheesy Bread the generator still needs.
Bag Boost adds +4 slots. It is optional. The free version of the same idea is dumping junk earlier and making more trips. If you own Sprint Boost as well, those extra trips get cheaper because you move 25% faster during the day. Sprint Boost does not make night safer by itself. It buys more pawn visits before the exam starts.
A practical split for a first bag:
- One or two slots locked for fight gear you will not sell.
- One slot you try to keep empty until you actually need a pickup.
- The rest for scrap you intend to pawn this daylight.
If Cheesy Bread drops while the generator is hungry, that bread is not “extra.” Do not auto-pawn it because the shop UI is closer than the machine. Generator upkeep is how long runs stay possible; scrap greed that starves the town is how Day 50 attempts die on a full inventory.
Permanent Drill versus hand digging
Hand digging teaches the route. You learn how far you can walk, how fast the bag fills, and how long the walk home actually takes. Do that before you spend Robux.
Permanent Drill is the paid analogue of “auto dig” that still requires you to be there. You still have a bag. You still have a clock. You still have to reach the pawn shop. If a pop-up sells infinite drills as a script, that is not the gamepass. Rank the real purchases on the tools list: Permanent Drill, Bag Boost, Sprint Boost, Starter Cash ($500), Free Revive Every Run, Double Gems, Bigger Lobby. This wiki does not invent extra passes.
Starter Cash is a first-run kicker, not a farm. $500 lets you buy kit before your first pawn if you spend it on kit. It does not print scrap. Double Gems does not touch Cash. Bigger Lobby adds seats on a 20-player online server; it does not mine for you.
Sprint Boost is extra trips, not extra bravery
The pass is 25% faster during the day. Use it to:
- Reach a node and return with time left to sell.
- Chain two short loops instead of one greedy loop.
- Get home when the light turns.
Do not use it as an excuse to stay farther out. Distance from town is how new threats and bosses enter the run. Faster legs in daylight do not cancel a night fight you pulled toward spawn. If movement, sprint, or interact feel wrong on your device, fix the HUD on the controls page before you buy speed you cannot steer.
When to stop before night
Stop mining when any of these is true:
- You cannot walk to town, pawn, and restock before dark.
- The bag has no room for a med kit.
- Teammates are already calling a hold and you are still in a hole.
- You are farther from town than you have survived at night.
Night is the exam. Day is the study hall. A rich node after the cutoff is how wipes start: you arrive late, you arrive full, and you arrive with nothing spent on weapons. The habits that reach the Survivor badge begin here. They are boring on purpose. Short routes, early returns, Cash converted before the undead move.
If you are playing the online co-op the listing asks for, stagger pawn trips. One player selling while another still digs keeps income flowing without parking the whole 20-player town in a shop menu. Call when you leave a node so nobody kites a farther-out threat down the same road you are jogging with a full bag.
What this loop is not
It is not a 3000-kill farm. Still Standing is a different badge; grinding kills during the day is how you miss pawn windows. It is not an ending skip. Story paths still want you alive, fed, and funded. It is not a class roll. Premium members already have a starting class; everyone else spends Lucky Tickets or Gems after reading the class overview. Redeem tickets with Codes bottom-right, Enter Code, Claim; the click path is on how to redeem.
Group members can claim free rewards from im diggin it. Those rewards are not a second DigSocial. There is no official Trello. If a video invents extra codes or a magic scrap node past every threat, check the September 2026 updates and the B.L.O.X INTERACTIVE Discord instead of the thumbnail.
A shift you can repeat
Print this order: reserved bag slots, short dig, pawn extras, restock, second short dig only if the sky allows, home, fight the night you paid for. Open the run checklist between loops if you forget the sequence. Use the badges list so you do not confuse First Steps, Yummers, Survivor, and Still Standing. The players hub and tier list hub are for loadout questions after Cash exists.
Scrap is the boring skill that makes the rest of the wiki usable. Keep the bag honest, sell extras, and stop before night. That is how a mining town eats.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers for Dig and Survive on Roblox.
Where do I sell scrap in Dig and Survive?
At the pawn shop in town. Dig during the day, keep fight gear and Cheesy Bread if the generator needs it, and sell extras for Cash before night.
Does Permanent Drill replace digging?
No. It is a paid income tool. You still manage bag space, walk to the pawn shop, and come home before dark. Rank it with other passes on the tools list.
What does Sprint Boost actually do?
It makes you 25% faster **during the day**, which means more pawn trips. It does not make night safer. Movement issues belong on the controls guide.
When should I stop digging?
When you cannot reach town, sell, and restock before dark, or when the bag has no room for a med kit. Night is the exam; see Day 50 for why that habit has to last.
Do codes give Cash for scrap?
No. **DigSocial** grants 20 Lucky Tickets, not Cash. Redeem on the codes hub. Cash still comes from the pawn shop.
Should I use an auto-dig script?
No. Unauthorized tools are a ban risk and grief on a 20-player server. Read the auto-farm notes and use Permanent Drill if you want legal speed.
